A relative watching the Ravine Avenue house while the homeowners were on vacation called police after the failed Oct. 27 attempt, Chief Benjamin Fox said.
“Doors and lights at the home were damaged in what were several unsuccessful attempts to enter the house,” Fox said.
Detective Sgts. Joseph Soto and Michael Musto investigated and arrested Gina Graziano, 43, of North Haledon.
They already were familiar with her, Fox said: Wyckoff police arrested her four months ago for shoplifting and in March 2011 for cashing checks stolen from mailboxes.
The detectives this time charged Graziano with criminal intent to commit burglary, possession of burglary tools, theft of U.S. mail and providing false information to police to implicate another.
Graziano was released in her own recognizance pending grand jury action.
Sgt. Michael Ragucci assisted in the investigation, Fox said.
