Sub-contractor workers at the SBI Materials company on Dey Road flagged down a motorist who called police just before 10 a.m., Capt. Laurence Martin said.
Police Officers Brian Bradford and Bruce Conklin and Sgt. Colin Tarpey found the 34-year-old victim and summoned the Wayne Emergency Volunteer Memorial First Aid Squad, along with Advanced Life Support from St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center, Martin said.
Wayne firefighters freed the body at 1:30 p.m., the captain said.
A state Medical Examiner was trying to confirm the victim's identity, Martin said.
He is "generically described as an approximately 34-year- old male adult possible of Hispanic descent," the captain said.
Detectives were reviewing surveillance video of the workyard to determine exactly what happened, he said.
Both the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office and OSHA were notified and responded.
