Peter Carrozzone, 28, left the courtroom Tuesday, "darted" into the woods at Valley Road and Nellis Drive and emerged with 15 bags of heroin -- stamped "KING" -- and a hypodermic needle as Detective Brendan Rigler watched, Capt. Laurence Martin said.
Rigler arrested Carrozzone, who "appeared flushed and sweating" and "admitted using several bags of heroin prior to court," Martin said.
He was released on a summons.
Carrazone was free on bail after being arrested on drug charges in Pequannock in February with a man who they said also had his 4-year-old daughter in the car when he drove to Paterson to buy heroin.
Wayne police on Wednesday also arrested two borough men on drug charges after stopping their car for tailgating on northbound Route 23 and Packanack Lake Road.
Jared Kovar and Sean Colligan, both 27, "were nervous and trembling" as they spoke with officers who spotted wrappers used to bundle heroin, Martin said.
They, too, had "KING"-stamped bags -- 140 in all, the captain said.
