Video: Passaic Sheriff's Union Brings Santa, Joy To Paterson Schoolchildren

PATERSON, N.J. -- Youngsters at a Paterson school got a special treat courtesy of the Passaic County Sheriff's PBA Local 197 Corrections Division when Santa brought them all gifts.

Principal Deyanira Cartagena Vice Principal Derwin W Smith beamed proudly as 300 1st- and 2nd-graders at School No. 18 met Santa, had a photo taken and left with a gift.

PBA 197 "has been keeping this tradition alive for the last eight years," union President John C. Welsh told Daily Voice. "It's a great day when you put a smile on these young children's faces.

"Our union this year has raised over $5,000 for the toys provided," he added, "and we will continue our trend next year."
