Mary K. Miraglia
Among those honored at the national landmark in Haledon on Sunday was John Miraglia, whose widow, Mary, lives in Leonia.
“My entire family is humbled and deeply honored,” she said. “John was a giant of a man, and a giant in labor, beginning as a child by his father’s side in textile worker strikes and working as a director of NASA, an undersecretary to the Merchant Marine Administration and an independent practitioner for more than 50 years.
“We are so happy to have him memorialized at the Botto House, the only labor museum in the United States.”
Begun in 1994, the sale of Silk Walk bricks at the building’s front walkway and grape arbor raises funds for the museum’s upkeep, as well as for operating expenses and educational programs. The engraved bricks are priced from $50 to $200.
