Members of his Internet Crime Unit took 41-year-old Lawrence Ramirez into custody after a six-week investigation, Passaic County Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said.
They charged him with possession and distribution of child pornography after catching Ramirez sharing nearly a dozen illegal files from his Union Avenue home, Berdnik said.
Ramirez served nearly seven years of a 10-year state prison term on convictions of rape and violating a domestic violence restraining order in Bergen County before being released on Megan's Law lifetime parole supervision in April 2016, records show.
Under his sentence he "was to refrain from using a computer or device to access social networks or chat rooms unless expressly authorized by a parole supervisor," Berdnik noted.
