Wanted by Wayne police, 34-year-old Jason Major is 6 feet tall and 200 pounds and could be driving a green 1997 Dodge pickup truck with the NJ license plate R38GEZ and a black ladder rack, authorities said.
Major had donned a tri-colored safety vest as part of his costume and knocked on doors during the day, assuming residents would be at work, they said.
When no one answered, they said, he broke in and stole jewelry, women’s purses and electronic equipment.
Elmwood Park police arrested him late Friday while working in tandem with Hopatcong, Byram, and Sparta police and the Sussex County Prosecutor’s Office.
After Major was charged with two burglaries in Hopatcong, New Jersey's new bail reform law criteria forced a judge to release him.
He was then re-arrested Sunday in Morris Township and charged with the two additional burglaries -- and released yet again.
Arrest warrants were issued for Major for new offense that include burglary and criminal mischief in Wayne and criminal mischief, burglary, and theft in Hopatcong, Wayne Detective Capt. Laurence Martin said.
If you see Major or know where to find him, authorities ask that you dial 911 or your local police department immediately.
DO NOT confront him yourself.
