Search broadens for missing Paterson man, 83

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Authorities have broadened their search for a dementia-stricken, 83-year-old Paterson man whose family said they last saw him before dawn on Sunday.

Family members reported Lucius Gardner missing to Paterson police at 6:30 a.m. Sunday, six hours after they said they last saw him.

Today, New Jersey State Police issued an alert for Gardner, who is described as 5-foot-9 and 155 pounds, with brown eyes and gray hair. They also said he has a 3-inch burn scar on his lef arm.

He was last seen wearing a gray sweater, blue jeans and white sneakers.

Besides dementia, Gardner has diabetes and high blood pressure.

He’s walked off before, police said, and was found near Broadway, at a McDonalds on Madison Avenue and at Lakeview Cemetery.
