Investigators from Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli’s office went to Virginia, got a search warrant and then — with help from the Virginia State Police and the Albemarle County Police Department — arrested Kelley at his Waynesboro home earlier this week.
The charges: endangering the welfare of a minor, specifically by transmitting child pornography, and conspiring to commit aggravated sexual assault.
Despite his age, Kelley will certainly go to prison if he is convicted at a trial or negotiates a plea deal.
Kelley was snagged in a virtual dragnet stretched across the Internet by members of the Computer Crimes Unit in Molinelli’s office (And if his hometown sounds familiar, it’s because it’s used as a mythical locale in Bruce Springsteen’s “Promised Land”).
