The uniformed officer was on duty at 5:30 a.m. at West 41st Street and Ninth Avenue near the Lincoln Tunnel when he asked 47-year-old Johnnie Moore to stop blocking pedestrian traffic, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.
The officer was trying to clear the corner during the morning rush, Pentangelo said, but Moore refused.
Moore then “charged the officer and crashed into him,” he said.
Armed with a pen, he “attempted to stab the officer in the face,” Pentangelo said.
A second officer helped disarm and subdue him, he said.
No one was injured in the scuffle, Pentangelo said.
The 6-foot-2-inch, 200-pound Moore was arrested on charges of menacing, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, he said.
