A concerned citizen turned investigators' attention to 376 E. 28th Street, Police Director Jerry Speziale said.

Seeing them coming, a suspect ran into a store at the corner of East 28th Street and 10th Avenue, a known drug dealing hangout, he said.

Further investigation led to the arrests of Nyja Dejesus, 20, and 18-year-old Hudhaifa Johnson, the director said.

Johnson was charged with possession of a Smith & Wesson .40-caliber handgun, with ten live rounds, and 334 heroin envelopes, Speziale said.

A judge ordered him held without bail in the Passaic County Jail pending a detention hearing.

DeJesus was charged with having a jar of marijuana, the director said.
