Paterson Detectives Charge Pair In Summer Killing

PATERSON, N.J. -- Paterson detectives charged two city men with killing one victim and wounding another in a shooting last summer, Police Director Jerry Speziale announced Tuesday.

Charged with murder in the July 12 death of 24-year-old John Williams were Jamere Williams, 24, and Nygee Williams, 22, both of Rosa Parks Boulevard, Speziale said.

Both are also charged with the attempted murder of Kamar Cooks, 26, as well as with various weapons offenses, the director said.

They were being held in the Passaic County Jail.

John Williams was shot in the head near the corner of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Warren Street in the city's 4th Ward. Cooks was wounded, as well, he said.

Both were taken to St. Joseph's Regioanl Medical Center, where Williams succumbed to his injuries, Speziale said.
