PATERSON, N.J. -- A Paterson couple was being questioned by Passaic County Prosecutor's detectives and an autopsy was scheduled for a 3-year-old girl who died Wednesday afternoon after possibly being beaten, law enforcement sources told Daily Voice.

The mother and her boyfriend brought the child to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center on Sunday with severe head trauma, one said.

"They both stated that the 3-year-old fell," the officer said. "The baby appears to have possibly been abused."
