Jose Ramirez, 31, had just sold a bag of cocaine on the side of the house to a 29-year-old Fair Lawn man who was stopped "out of the area" by one team of officers, Sheriff Richard H. Berdnik said.
This led to a search of the Cliff Street apartment by detectives and members of the department's Warrant Squad, he said.
Berdnik's Narcotics Bureau investigators had been watching Ramirez for two weeks before moving in, the sheriff said,
Found, the sheriff said, were:
- 117 Oxycodone pill worth a combined $3,500;
- an Intratec 9mm Tec-DC9, with a high-capacity magazine;
- a .380 Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun -- reported stolen out of North Carolina in 2012 -- with five bullets;
- $1,877 in cash.
Ramirez was charged with various drug and weapons counts and taken to the Passaic County Jail while a judge was conducted to set bail, Berdnik said.
