Berdnik's detectives checked out a tip in the area of E. 35th Street and 20th Avenue and saw 44-year-old Damon Brown approach a car holding a prescription bottle, remove several pills and "hand them to the occupants in exchange for money," Berdnik said.
As the vehicle left, Brown got into a parked green 2001 Audi and drove off, the sheriff said.
The detectives pulled him over and K-9 Justus -- handled by Officer Scott Phillips -- "gave a positive indication" for drugs after an exterior sniff of the Audi, he said.
Brown was arrested after the Oxy was found, the sheriff said. He was carrying $563, Berdnik said.
A search of his home turned up 13 grams of cocaine and $3,000 cash, in addition to the Clonazepam (Klonopin), he said.
The total value of the drugs was $5,000, the sheriff said.
A judge released Brown pending a hearing on various drug-related charges. The $3,563 was seized for forfeiture.
