Husseyn Soriano, 29, was found guilty of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and child endangerment following testimony from several witnesses, including the now-17-year-old victim, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said.

The jury also watched Soriano’s video-recorded confession to Detective Sabrina McKoy of the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, who also testified.

Superior Court Judge Marybel Mercado-Ramirez set a Jan. 27 sentencing date for Soriano, who was remanded to the Passaic County Jail.

A conviction for aggravated sexual assault in New Jersey carries a maximum term of up to 20 years in state prison -- 85% of which must be served before the convict is eligible for parole. A sexual assault conviction can bring up to 10 years.

Assistant Passaic County Prosecutor Anneris Hernandez handled the case. Soriano was represented by defense attorney Kathryn Panaccione.
