Just before midnight, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli confirmed an 11 p.m. CLIFFVIEW PILOT report Tuesday that investigators arrested Greco after interviewing the woman, who is now of age, several hours earlier.
Greco , 27, of Garfield, was still being held on $100,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail after midnight today, charged with sexual assault on a minor and child endangerment.
He must post the full amount in order to be released pending trial, unless a judge agrees to lower it after a bail hearing.
Molinelli said district officials immediately suspended Greco, although it couldn’t be determined Thursday night whether it is with or without pay.
The girl told authorities of liaisons that occurred in different municipalities, including on Memorial Day weekend of 2010 and last year, CLIFFVIEW PILOT has learned.
Molinelli, in turn, said detectives interviewed the teen, who “confirmed inappropriate sexual conduct occurred between her and Greco” happened in 2010, when she was a junior, and last year, when she was a senior.
“Information concerning the possible relationship between Greco and the former student was learned by a teacher at the Park Ridge High School,” the prosecutor said, adding that the instructor immediately contacted district officials.
Park Ridge police and Molinelli’s Special Victim’s Unit were then summoned, he said.
Records show the district hired Greco for the 2007-2008 school year, first as a substitute teacher, as he was being graduated from William Paterson University.
Now a pre-calculus, algebra honors and math instructor, Greco, who is single, was also an advisor to the Student Council.
