Paramus Officers Sal Cosentino and Henry Ramm officers checked the license plate of the black 2004 Ford Expedition after spotting it on Farview Avenue near Ardale Road just before 7:30 a.m.
“It had been reported stolen off the street in Passaic yesterday,” Police Chief Kenneth Ehrenberg told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.
“The officers activated their lights and siren and attempted to stop the vehicle, but the Expedition failed to stop,” the chief said.
They chased the SUV before it fiially stopped at Concord Drive, he said.
The driver Misael Guerrido, 50, of Clifton and passenger, 46-year-old Ronica Wade of Garfield, were taken into custody without incident, Ehrenberg said.
Officers found “several credit cards with different names embossed on them,” as well as a crack pipe, he said.
Guerrido was being held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail. He was charged with eluding police and possession of a stolen vehicle and drug paraphernalia.
Wade was released pending a court hearing on a charge of possessing stolen credit cards.
