NFL replacement team: ‘Jerseys for Jesus’

SHOUT OUT: What it says about the state of their respective teams that several congregants wore New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys jerseys to a Baptist church service in Red Bank is anybody’s guess. But one thing’s for sure: The pastor’s timing was impeccable.

Held during the Super Bowl’s “bye” week, the third annual “Jerseys for Jesus” service Sunday at Pilgrim Baptist Church gave diehards whose teams didn’t make it to the Big Dance — or even the playoffs — reason to cheer. It also gave new meaning to Notre Dame’s “Touchdown Jesus.”
