The 18-year-old victim told police the two pulled up in a black vehicle last Tuesday afternoon on River Edge Avenue.

They quickly identified 20-year-old Zachary Garry of New Milford, then went to his house, Police Chief Frank Papapietro said this morning.

There they discovered that Garry had just left for a court appearance in a black, two-door Volkswagen GTI with tinted windows and yellow fog lights that belonged to a man he was with, 23-year-old Brandon Ramos of Clifton, the chief said.

A search of the residence turned up another address for Garry, in Dumont, Papapietro said.

Dumont police found the pair soon after, then secured the vehicle while both men were taken to New Milford police headquarters, he said.

After obtaining a warrant, an lieutenant found a small amount of crystal Molly in a clear zip-locking bag inside a backpack that Ramos later admitted was his, the chief said.

Both men were charged with simple assault, and Ramos with drug possession, and released pending a court hearing, Papapietro said.
