Officer Ryan Hill stopped 22-year-old Timothy James Murphy’s car after he saw it suddenly cut off another, the chief told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
Murphy told Hill he’s been living in Dumont but was traveling between Suffern and Paterson for work, Batelli said.
Another man in the car had no identification but said he was from Mount Vernon, N.Y., the chief said.
Both men gave “inconsistent stories about their activities,” after which Hill received consent to search the car.
That’s when he turned up the drugs.
Murphy was charged with three counts of drug possession and one of possession of drug paraphernalia. He also was issued several motor vehicle summonses before being released without bail, the chief said.
An April 16 Municipal Court appearance was scheduled.
