Post and Minella have nearly 50 years of combined experience in the department.
"I know that both of these gentlemen will continue to lead our police department into the future with integrity and professionalism," Mayor Darlene Conti said.
Post, 40, was a lieutenant before becoming chief. He's spent 22 years with the department and served as detective, sergeant, patrol officer and dispatcher.
The chief thanked the mayor and council, the rest of the department and his family for helping him succeed.
"I will not disappoint any of you," he said.
Post replaces retired Chief John Dmuchowski.
Minella, a 52-year-old Little Falls native, has worked for the department for 25 years. He's been a patrol officer and detective sergeant.
"It feels great, it's a great opportunity," he said of his new position.
Both Minella and Post are proven leaders, Conti said.
The department also recently hired five new officers: Christopher Kania, Jonathan Cespedes, Jo Vincent Emperio, Ryan Dubiel and Raymond Tulling.
