Zaira Rijos-Laureano, 37, was thrown from the 2014 Jeep Commander after it veered off the road and into an embankment on the eastbound highway at mile marker 53.7, they said.
Responders pronounced her dead at the scene while taking the driver, 27-year-old Jerico Arias of Paterson, to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center for treatment of injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.
No charges or summonses were filed immediately.
