Anthony Chiampi, 48, was subject to community supervision for life when, on March 14, state parole officeres found 63 disks of images and videos depicting child sexual abuse, including material that involved prepubescent minors, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman said this morning.
Because of his prior conviction, Chiampi faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison, among other penalties, Fishman said.
He was due to go before a federal magistrate judge in Newark this afternoon on a complaint charging him with possessing images of child sex abuse.
Fishman credited the N.J. State Parole Board and special agents of the FBI Newark Division’s Child Exploitation Task Force with the investigation leading to today’s arrest.
The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Danielle M. Corcione of the U.S. Attorney’s Office General Crimes Unit in Newark.
