Detective Capt. Jack McNiff is a 21-year police veteran currently assigned to Internal Affairs who served five years in Montclair before joining Wayne in 2001. He's been assigned to various roles in the department, including walking patrol/community policing, Anti-Crime Task Force, juvenile detective/SRO, field training officer, crisis negotiator, and DARE instructor.
McNiff, a township resident, cited five years as a school resource officer at Anthony Wayne Middle School as one of the most rewarding of his career.
Lt. Christian Wittig, who joined the department in 1998, was assigned to Wayne Hills High School as a school resource officer in 2003, promoted to sergeant in 2011 and reassigned to the Detective Bureau in 2015.
Wittig became an acting lieutenant and reasssigned to patrol this past November. He is a member of the Marine Unit, a rifle operator and a defensive tactics and physical training instructor.
Sgt. Richard Oberti served for eight years in patrol after joining the department in 1992 before being reassigned to the Narcotics Bureau. He served ther for five years before joining the Juvenile Bureau -- an assignment that lasted 10 years. He was reassigned to patrol in January 2015 and became an acting sergeant in November.
