Luca Ferrigno, 44, has an arrest sheet in Bergen and Passaic counties that dates back 15 years, for crimes including theft, wrongful impersonation, forgery and several counts of fraudulent use of credit cards, CLIFFVIEW PILOT has found.
Three years ago, Wayne police said he bought two laptops with a credit card he stole from a car in the lot of a Bally’s in their town, where dozens of thefts had been reported.
Yesterday, Englewood Cliffs detectives arrested and charged Ferrigno with breaking into 10 gym lockers and vehicles since August at the popular Sylvan Avenue fitness center in their town – and he wasn’t even a member.
Ferrigno’s photo was distributed among additional patrol officers assigned by Chief Michael Cioffi around Bally’s following the rash of break-ins, Capt. Daniel Morrissey told CLIFFVIEW PILOT today.
Around 3:20 p.m. yesterday, Officer Frank Hechinger spotted Ferrigno’s car – with tinted windows – and pulled it over, he said.
In his gym bag were items that “he had just stolen from a victim’s locker,” as well as bolt cutters and a large flathead screwdriver, Morrissey said.
Ferrigno was being held on $50,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with several counts of burglary, defiant trespassing and possession of burglar tools.
