Officers responding to the rear of the Paulison Avenue area just after midnight Friday were met by the Middlesex County victim's friends and taken to the spot, where he'd fallen about 20 feet down a slope of rocks, landing near a storm drain and injuring his head, Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said.
"However, the area in which the injured party landed was extremely difficult to access," Bracken said.
Clifton firefighters got the victim out, the lieutenant said.
The Port Reading man was taken to University Hospital in Newark with traumatic injuries, he said.
