A passerby found the Elmwood Park man on the ground on Center Street near Parker Avenue and summoned police at 12:40 a.m., Detective Lt. Robert Bracken said Tuesday afternoon.
The victim told police he was "standing near his vehicle, smoking a cigarette," when the pair approached, Bracken said.
One of them had a handgun, the victim told police.
They robbed him after threatening him, he said, then punched him in the head several times, "rendering him briefly incapacitated," the lieutenant said.
They then ran.
He described them only as one black and the other possibly Hispanic.
