Carjackers crash in Franklin Lakes, flee into woods

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: One suspect was immediately taken into custody and three others took off on foot after a carjacked vehicle crashed in Franklin Lakes during a late night/early morning police chase.

Paterson police issued the alert of the armed carjacking of a white Toyota around 11:15 last night.

A short time later, North Haledon police spotted and chased the 2010 Accord on High Mountain Road into Franklin Lakes — where it crashed near Ewing Avenue.

A K9 search for three of the suspects in a wooded area near the site of the crash was under way early this morning.

Unconfirmed reports are that the carjacking victim is a corrections officer.
