Responding to an alarm at the New Breed store on Fair Lawn Avenue came in just after 9:15 p.m., Officer Brian Rypkema found the Paterson boy hiding behind a counter, Sgt. Brian Metzler said this morning.

Backups joined Rypkema at the scene over concerns that the juvenile might have an accomplice. However, a review of surveillance video showed that he didn’t, Metzler said.

Police served him with delinquent complaints and took him to the Bergen County Juvenile Detention Center in Teterboro.

A records check turned up two juvenile warrants out of Passaic County.
