Authorities eye mechanical issues in Glen Rock vehicle fires

YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST: The causes of two afternoon vehicle fires in Glen Rock yesterday — one of which destroyed one van and seriously damaged another — “might have been mechanical issues,” Police Chief Fred Stahman told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

“No further investigation by [police],” the chief said this afternoon.

Two vans parked in a Bradford Street driveway at Birchwood Road caught fire — one of which became fully involved — as did a car on Ackerman Avenue (photo, right) shortly after one another yesterday afternoon.

Hawthorne firefighters assisted in both incidents.
