Detectives who tracked down Jaronn Stokes, 30, charged him with two counts of attempted murder, in addition to weapons offenses, Police Director Jerry Speziale said Friday.
The victims -- one 28, the other 30 -- both showed up at St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center just after 5 p.m. Wednesday with gunshot wounds in their legs, Speziale said.
A short time earlier, he said, the departments ShotSpotter gunfire detection system cited shots fired in the area of 17th Avenue and East 28 Street.
Detectives Salvatore Marotta and Joehan Suarez of the Ceasefire Unit identified Stokes as the shooter, Speziale said.
A day later, they found him on 12th Avenue and East 18th Street and took Stokes into custody, assisted by fellow Ceasefire Unit Detective Michael Quinones and Passaic County Prosecutor’s Detective Ricardo Ferreira.
Stokes remained held in the Passaic County Jail pending further court action.
