A 41-year-old New Jersey man got into a fight with multiple Connecticut police officers trying to stop him as he violated a protective order in New Haven County, authorities said. Jose Valentin Duran-Castillo, of Phillipsburg, NJ, faces several felony charges following his arrest on Friday, Oct. 18, East Haven Police said. A judge ordered him held on a $250,000 bond. A 58-year-old New Jersey attorney and lobbyist was killed in Nashville, TN on Saturday, Oct. 19 after he was struck by a vehicle, authorities said. Michael O'Connell, of Belmar, was crossing the street with the walk light when he was struck by 2009 Dodge pickup truck attempting to make a left turn, Nashville police said in a release. Arrest Made In Bergen County Hit-Run Crash
A 47-year-old motorist has been charged in a deadly Bergen County crash this month. Ralph Castellano III, of Lodi, was behind the wheel of the 2010 Toyota Tundra that struck Paul Adams, 70, of Wyckoff, while he was trying to cross Godwin Avenue at the intersection with Witte Drive on Friday, Oct. 11 around 7:10 p.m., Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. A 27-year-old Denville man was arrested and charged after he struck a police officer while fleeing on Sunday, Oct. 20, authorities said. While officers were conducting a traffic stop on Indian Road, it was discovered the driver, Liam Harrigan, had an active NCIC Warrant out of the Morris County Prosecutor's Office, Denville police said. Police in Tenafly have released details in the crash that killed a 23-year-old sanitation worker from North Arlington Monday morning, Oct. 21. Authorities have released details and identified the man killed by police on Saturday, Oct. 19in Burlington County. Officers responding to smoke coming from a Pemberton home on Woodland Avenue around 3:20 p.m., New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. The bodies of two severely burned girls ages 6 and 8 were found at a Newark home following a fire over the weekend, officials said. Witnesses told detectives that there had been a birthday party for one of the girls on the second floor of the home and they'd been playing with fire near a couch in the hallway of the Eckert Street home on Saturday, Oct. 20, the Essex County Prosecutor's Office said.
