Legendary Boxing Trainer, Manager Lou Duva, 94, Of Totowa

TOTOWA, N.J. -- Lou Duva of Paterson and Totowa died Wednesday, March 8. He was 94.

The boxing hall of famer was part of the Main Events family, which was founded by his son in 1978. 

He handled the careers of 19 world champions including heavyweights Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis and was voted “Manager of the Year” in 1985 and “Trainer of the Year” in 1987.

He is survived by son Dino and his wife Margi; daughters Donna Duva Brooks and her husband Tommy Brooks; Deanne Boorman and her husband Mike Boorman; and Denise; daughter in law Kathy Duva, widow of Dan Duva; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 

He was pre-deceased by his wife Enes and son Dan.

Visitation will be 3-7 p.m. on Sunday, March 12 at Festa Funeral Home, 111 Union Blvd., Totowa. The funeral service will be on Monday, March 13 at 10 a.m. at St Mary’s R.C. Church on Union Avenue in Paterson.
