Battle Of Bulge Survivor Silvio Buffalino Passes Away At 96

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. -- Former Washington Township resident Silvio Buffalino died Aug. 29 at the age of 96.

Born in Paterson, Buffalino lived in Washington Township before settling in Eatontown 30 years ago. He fought at the Battle of the Bulge as a member of the U.S. Army during World War II. After the war, he went to work as a dispatcher for New Jersey Transit in New York City.

Buffalino is survived by his wife Mary (Nee Reidda); sons Ernest, Gerald and the late Joseph; brother Ida Gonzalez; as well as seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

The family will host a funeral at 10 a.m. Friday at the Patrick J. Conte Funeral Home, 274 Market St., Elmwood Park. A Mass will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Leo’s Church in Elmwood Park.
