Matthew Polifonte was put in a medically-induced coma and had brain surgery following the March crash on Ratzer Road. Polifonte’s twin sister and two of his three other siblings were also in the vehicle, but the lacrosse player was the only person seriously injured in the crash.
On Friday, Polifonte was welcomed home by a crowd of well-wishers.
“Thank you for supporting me on my road to recovery. I feel so loved,” he told supporters, according to a WABC report.
His parents also expressed their gratitude, the story says.
"I am happy just to be a family again and to be together. Thank you so much everyone for your love and support,” said his mother, Lori Polifonte, according to the report.
More than $70,000 had been raised for Polifonte’s care through a GoFundMe page.
