Giant Champion Breed Cat Found Wandering Paterson

PATERSON, N.J. -- Animal control officers were called to Mill Street in Paterson Thursday on reports of a bobcat or tiger sighting, according to multiple news outlets.

It was nothing quite as wild but almost as unusual for the streets of Paterson: a Savannah cat was in a backyard on Mill Street, CBS reports.

Wildlife Freedom Inc. in Wanaque tranquilized the cat and is holding on to it until the owner can be found, the station said.

The championship breed from Africa is often several times larger than a regular domestic feline and can cost as much as $30,000.
