“If I was eating, he sat next to me. If I was on the bed, he laid next to me,” Galarza told Daily Voice.
The bond between Max and her daughter Natalia “was there from day one,” the Elmwood Park teacher said. “When she came out, we knew that he was going to be attached to her.”
And now that bond is an internet sensation.
Max, a 12-year-old yellow lab, and Natalia, 3 months, are the stars of a viral video, where Max can be seen rocking Natalia in her bassinet.
“When I first posted it on Instagram, everyone was like commenting to me, ‘Oh my God, this is amazing.’ I had thought it was funny, but I didn’t think it would be as popular as it is right now,” Galarza said.
Galarza said Max is just as attached to Natalia now that she is out in the world, as he was while she was in the womb. “Anything I do with her, he is always around.”
So it didn’t take Galarza and her husband Richard long to get the pup to rock Natalia. “The whole thing kind of happened on accident,” she said.
“I was rocking her and he just kind of put up his paw just to like see her, just to kind of see what was going on,” she explained. “And then we told him, ‘Stay, stay.’ We saw he was like rocking her,” she said.
Now, he’ll do it on command, she said. “We’ll go, ‘Rock Natalia,’ I’ll start, and he’ll jump on,” she said.
The rocking usually doesn't last too long, but the Galarzas love to watch and see how bonded Max and Natalia are.
“He is really good with her,” she said.
