Mom, Bergen County Kindergarten Teacher Nina Gumbman Dies, 32
Antonina "Nina" Gumbman (nee Cutrona) died on Wednesday, Oct. 30. She was 32 years old. Nina was raised in Lodi and settled down in Hawthorne, where she lived with her husband, Keith, and their son, Nicholas, 3, according to her obituary on the Aloia Funeral Home website. Nina worked as a Kindergarten teacher for 10 years, most recently in Elmwood Park at the 16 Avenue School. A GoFundMe for Nina's husband and son had raised more than $20,000 as of Monday, Nov. 4. A knife-wielding man in the stairwell of an apartment complex in Camden County was shot and killed by a police officer, authorities said. members of the Haddon Township Police Department responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding an attempted burglary in progress at an apartment complex located on West Crystal Lake Avenue in Westmont around 1:05 a.m., New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin said. A crash investigation closed a portion of Route 19 and Route 80 on Sunday morning, Nov. 3 in Paterson, the NJDOT site shows. Driver, 19, Killed In Route 80 Crash
A 19-year-old driver was killed in an early-morning Route 80 crash when he rear-ended a box truck stopped in the shoulder, authorities said. Cameron Ray, of Flanders, was heading west in a Subrau when he rear-ended the truck near milepost 38.2 in Denville around 5:40 a.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan said. Ray died as a result of the crash while the box truck driver suffered minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.

Casual dining chain TGI Fridays has filed for bankruptcy several weeks after at least 12 of its restaurants suddenly closed. The company filed the Chapter 11 petition on Saturday, Nov. 2, in Texas, near its Dallas headquarters. A Bergen County Bottle King employee was hospitalized with injuries suffered while trying to chase down a shoplifter Thursday night, Oct. 31, Daily Voice has learned. Police were trying to determine exactly how the employee of the Glen Rock store on Prospect Street was injured — he may have tripped and fallen, or have been struck by a car sometime around 7:30 p.m., incident reporter Boyd A. A former Columbia University vice president has been convicted of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13 years old at his Bergen County home, authorities announced.
