Palisades Park Firefighters Battle Extreme Heat, Terrain To Douse House Blaze
It wasn’t the easiest job: The air was thick, with temperatures still in the high 80s, when a fire broke out in a home on a Palisades Park hill at the top of a private driveway. Borough firefighters lugging hoses and ground ladders doused the Monday night blaze -- saving the house -- with no serious injuries. Firefighters Battle Fourth Of July Blaze At Former Diner Near GWB In Fort Lee
A firefighter was hospitalized in a destructive Fourth of July fire at the site of the former Plaza Diner near the George Washington Bridge in Fort Lee, responders said. The extent of injuries wasn’t immediately known. The fire, believed to be accidental, broke out in the rear of the Koryeo Grill on Lemoine Avenue around 7:45 a.m., authorities said. UPDATE: Two men were clinging to life with critical burns after firefighters rescued them from an overnight blaze that engulfed a Maplewood home. The two-alarm fire broke out on a porch of the 2½-story wood-frame house on Essex Avenue, trapping three residents inside, around 3:20 a.m., responders said. A fire destroyed a home and nearly trapped the occupants early Monday morning, authorities said. Members of the Readington Police Department, Readington Volunteer Fire Company and the Whitehouse Rescue Squad responded to the Readington Road home after a resident called 911 around 12:20 a.m. Monday, township police said. A fast-moving fire destroyed a Garfield apartment building before dawn Thursday. The general-alarm blaze broke out at the 91 Jewell Street Apartments around 1:30 a.m. and quickly consumed the top floor and roof of the three-story multi-family building. Massive Fire Consumes South Jersey Strip Mall
Firefighters battled a massive blaze Friday that consumed a strip mall in Cherry Hill. There was no immediate word on what might have caused the blaze, which broke out at a business in the shopping center and sent flames into the air shortly before 11 a.m. Several ladder trucks were in operation after the roof of the structure collapsed, followed soon after by huge portions of the facade. Landlord Gets Three Years In Deaths Of Little Ferry Girl, 5, Grandmother In Fire
A landlord who failed to follow state codes was sentenced Friday to a plea-bargained three years in state prison for a 2016 fire that killed a 5-year-old Little Ferry girl and her grandmother. Truck Fire Evacuates Rockaway Township's Copeland Middle School
A Rockaway Township middle school was evacuated Tuesday morning after a delivery truck caught fire in the loading dock area outside. The first-floor fire alarm at Copeland Middle School went off around 10:25 a.m. after smoke entered the custodial room -- evacuating students and staff, Principal Alfonso Gonnella said in an email. The Lake Shore Drive building was cleared for re-entry around 11 a.m.
