UPDATE: A Westchester County resident who works at one of the largest clinical testing labs in the U.S. triggered a large emergency response Friday when she walked into the Bergen County building wearing a devil mask, handed a supervisor a jar of salsa with her name on it and left without saying a word, authorities said.
Ray Greenwald, 27, of Ardsley, NY, and the supervisor at BioReference Laboratories just off Route 80 in Elmwood didn't know one another and apparently had never met before, Police Chief Michael Foligno said.

Police: Prostitute, Accomplices Nabbed After Robbing John With Shotgun, Bat At Wayne Hotel
A would-be customer who thought he was patronizing a prostitute at a Wayne motel got robbed, instead, after the hooker let in a pair of armed companions – all of whom were later caught, authorities said.
The victim told police he’d met a woman at the Days Inn on Route 23 “for the purpose of paying her for sex,” Detective Capt. Dan Daly said Tuesday.
Soon after she arrived, there was a knock at the door, he said.

An Elmwood Park bank robber wrote a holdup note on a page ripped from the owner’s manual of a stolen car, said authorities who captured him.
James A. Lassiter, 66, of Paterson entered the Chase Bank branch in the Elmwood Park Center on Broadway the morning of Sept. 3 dressed in an all-white hooded sweatsuit, white sneakers, gloves, a facemask and sunglasses, Police Chief Michael Foligno said.
He passed a note and “repeatedly threatened to shoot the teller if she didn't comply," the chief said.

Elmwood Park Police Officer Dragged By Fleeing Acme Shoplifter
An Elmwood Park police officer escaped serious injury Wednesday afternoon when a shoplifter dragged him with her car.
Latonya Hendricks, 42, of Paterson shoved an Acme security guard who tried to stop her and fled with more than $200 worth of merchandise, Police Chief Michael Foligno said.
Officer Matt Ausslander, who was among the responders, opened the driver’s side door of Hendricks’s car to try and arrest her when she threw the vehicle into reverse, dragging him, the chief said.
Backup officers helped nab Hendricks, who kicked, punched and spit at them, Foligno said.
