The Chester Volunteer Fire Company responded to the crash near Plant Detectives alongside the local police and first aid squads around 7 a.m., police and fire crews said.

The tractor-trailer was hit head-on before veering off the road, hitting a tree in the woods, and catching fire, crews said.

The second truck was also leaking a large amount of fuel after its saddle tank was ripped open.

Crew members worked to douse the massive blaze and get the fluid leak under control.

The highway remained closed as of 1:40 p.m., according to 511NJ, though no serious injuries were reported.

Other assisting agencies include the Fairmount Fire Company No.1, Long Valley, NJ and Ralston.
