Madison's Central Avenue School employee was exposed off school grounds, Superintendent Mark Schwarz said Monday in a post on the district’s website.
The employee had not visited school grounds since Oct. 1, and began to self-quarantine upon detecting symptoms associated with the virus, Schwarz said.
The Madison Health Department is in the process of notifying those who may have come in contact with the individual, who Schwarz says will not be returning to school until they meet the criteria set by the NJDOH.
District officials remind students and other school community members to increase diligence in protective measures such as:
- Avoid unnecessary exposure
- Don’t share food or drink with others
- Wear a mask outside the home
- Maintain social distancing when possible
- Avoid touching your face
- Wash/sanitize hands frequently
- Stay home when you don’t feel well
“Together, we can keep our community safe and stay Madison Strong,” Schwarz said.
