Two Businesses Burgled After Suspect Throws Object At Door: Maplewood PD Maplewood police are investigating two morning burglaries this past weekend that involved a suspect throwing an object through the door, authorities said. On Saturday, Nov. 11 at 6:55 a.m., police responded to Newark Way and found a business with its front glass door shattered, officers said. The suspect removed the cash registers from the business and exited through the damaged door, police said. Smoke Detector Alerts 7 Maplewood Residents To House Fire None of the seven residents at a Maplewood home nor were any firefighters injured in a house blaze overnight Monday, fire officials said. Working smoke detectors alerted the occupants of the home on Valley Street to a fire around 2:20 a.m. Tuesday, Maplewood fire officials said. Crews responded within minutes and were able to contain the body of the fire and then knock it down, officials said. The cause and location were unclear.
