Trio Sentenced For Staking Out, Killing East Orange Victim: Prosecutor
Two men with long rap sheets were sentenced to 30 years in prison on Monday, July 22, for killing Shawn Watford in East Orange in April 2020, authorities said.
Anthony Hagans, a 35-year-old Irvington resident and Clarence Johnson, a 38-year-old East Orange were sentenced after pleading guilty to aggravated manslaughter and unlawful possession of a handgun while their trial was ongoing, Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II said.

A Pennsylvania man found himself in jail after a housekeeper at a hotel across the highway from MetLife Stadium found a loaded gun in his room, authorities said.
The 9mm Springfield Armory XD-E pistol found on a nightstand at the Hilton Meadowlands on eastbound Route 3 had eight hollow-point bullets in the magazine and a round in the chamber, East Rutherford Police Capt. Jeff Yannacone said.

An Easton man identified as the suspect in a recent Phillipsburg shooting and gunpoint robbery remains at large, authorities announced.
Larry Roberts, of the 1200 block of Lehigh Street in Easton, is accused of firing several rounds near Brainard Street in Phillipsburg on Tuesday, Feb. 8, Warren County Prosecutor James L. Pfeiffer said.
Roberts faces charges for unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and contempt of court, Pfeiffer said.

Prosecutor: Juvenile Beaten With Gun, Lured In NJ Drug Deal Gone Bad
Two more arrests have been made in connection with a Somerset County drug deal gone bad last January, authorities said Thursday.
Kayla S. Burnett, 20, of Ewing, and Samuel P. Dyal, 18, of Princeton, were arrested on May 26 and May 27, respectively, Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson said.
