Mahwah Schools Superintendent Announces Retirement
Mahwah Schools Supt. C. Lauren Schoen officially announced her retirement on Monday. The district Board of Trustees will vote on a resolution accepting Schoen's resignation at its meeting this Wednesday, Schoen said. Her last official day in the district will be Aug. 1, the superintendent said. Schoen said in a letter to parents that her time in Mahwah "has been filled with a great many district-wide successes and outstanding student achievements." Shark Tank Winners, Hunterdon County Army Sisters Launch Holiday Pop-Up Shop
A pair of Hunterdon County sisters who launched their business with help from NBC's "Shark Tank" are holding a holiday pop-up in Flemington. East Amwell natives Paige Dellavalle and Ashley Dellavalle Jung got a $150,000 cash infusion in exchange for a 35 percent share of the business in 2013. The sisters both attended West Point with a major in management and minor in systems engineering. Four Students From West Orange High Accepted To West Point
Four students from West Orange High School have been accepted to the West Point United States Military Academy, a record number for the high school, the district said That group includes Vanessa Letman, the first female West Orange High School student ever to be accepted into the U.S. Army's service academy. Letman's admission is not quite official -- her appointment is conditional based on results from a medical exam. Letman was hurt in a soccer game and needed ACL reconstructive surgery.
