Escalating tensions erupted Saturday night when a few protestors pepper-sprayed and threw bricks at sheriff's officers outside the Bergen County Jail, witnesses said. State Police: Union County Crash With Serious Injury Shuts Down Garden State Parkway
Three southbound lanes of the Garden State Parkway remained closed for an investigation following a crash with serious injuries in Union County Thursday morning, state police said. The crash occurred near milepost 134.8 in Clark shortly after 9:30 a.m., NJSP Trooper Alejandro Goez told Daily Voice. All north and southbound lanes were temporarily closed for a Medevac transport, Goez said. The three right southbound lanes remained closed for the investigation as of 12 p.m., Goez said. A Rochelle Park police officer rescued a man who was kidnapped from a local motel by two Passaic County men after an accomplice fled with their money in a scam gone wrong, authorities said. A Belleville convict must spend at least five years in state prison for trafficking a child rape video and similar pornography. Luis Felipe Pacheco-Loja, 33, was among 79 defendants nabbed in “Operation Safety Net,” a multi-agency child protection sweep led by State Police. PA Motorcyclist Ejected Over NJ Turnpike, Falls 25 Feet To His Death
Police have identified the motorcyclist who died after being ejected off of an elevated roadway on the NJ Turnpike and fell nearly 25 feet to his death. Jay Sills of Allentown, PA was headed eastbound near the Holland Tunnel approach on a Suzuki motorcycle when he struck a concrete barrier at milepost 7.9 around 4:20 p.m. Sunday, State Police Trooper Philip Curry said. Sills, 43, was ejected from his motorcycle and fell over the highway onto a dirt lot below, located near 14th and Monmouth Street, local and state police said. Sills was pronounced dead at the scene.

A motorist from Newark was seriously hurt when his vehicle crashed into a state Department of Transportation tractor, authorities said. The collision occurred at 2:12 p.m. on Monday along Route 18 north in Marlboro, A Chevy Trailblazer driven by Eric Hopkins, 28, of Newark struck a DOT tractor operated by Robert Taylor, 58, of South Amboy, according to Marlboro Police Captain Stephen J. A teenage boy was flown to the hospital after he was struck by a car and subsequently pinned under it in Fanwood Saturday morning. The 14-year-old was struck at the intersection of La Grande Avenue and Helen Street around 10:10 a.m., initial reports show.
