Commuter Bus Topples Traffic Light At Border of Hackensack, Hasbrouck Heights
No injuries were reported when a commuter bus downed a traffic light Monday afternoon at a busy intersection at the border of Hackensack and Hasbrouck Heights. Somehow the NJ TRANSIT bus being leased by Coach USA was the only vehicle damaged in the collision across from the 7-Eleven on South Summit Avenue off the corner of West Pleasantview Avenue around 2 p.m. Southbound South Summit Avenue into Boulevard remained closed for cleanup, repairs and an investigation of the accident's cause. Four Hospitalized In Hackensack Bus Crash
Four passengers were hospitalized and seven refused medical attention following a commuter bus crash in Hackensack, authorities said. The NJ TRANSIT bus had just picked up passengers and was headed north on South Summit Avenue when it collided near West Pleasantview Avenue with a Toyota Prius driven in the same direction by a 22-year-old Hasbrouck Heights man around 7:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, said Police Capt. Driver Hospitalized After Rear-End Crash On Route 17
A motorist was hospitalized after her SUV was rear-ended Monday afternoon on Route 17 in Hackensack. She and the female driver of the Ford Focus that hit her were guided to the shoulder of the southbound highway below South Summit Avenue by Walter Rogers, an EMT with the Rutherford First-Aid Ambulance Corps, and a passing tow truck driver shortly after 1 p.m. The Ford driver declined attention, but the SUV operator complained of neck and back pain and dizziness, Rogers said. ‘Can You Buy Me Ammo?’ Hackensack Police Nab Brooklyn Man Carrying Concealed Gun
Hackensack police said they caught a man carrying a gun after he asked a stranger to buy him ammunition. The civilian called police immediately, saying the suspect approached him outside a South Summit Avenue apartment building Wednesday afternoon and asked, “Can you buy me ammo?” He offered to pay him $200, said the caller, adding that he refused the requests both times.
