Hawthorne officers headed to a call of vehicles being cased by four young men spotted the suspects on 8th Avenue near Rea Avenue shortly after 3 p.m. last Wednesday. Massive jams stretched beyond eyesight in each direction as police detoured traffic at De Boer Drive in Glen Rock, where the wires fell around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, and Rea Avenue in Hawthorne. Injuries Reported In Multi-Vehicle Hawthorne Crash Off Route 208 At least three occupants were hospitalized following a multi-vehicle crash in Hawthorne early Tuesday afternoon. A Volkswagen Jetta and Chevy Malibu were severely damaged in the crash on Lincoln Avenue at Rea Avenue near the exit from northbound Route 208 in Glen Rock. Upstate New York driver Gregory Valentine, 48, “appeared very nervous and was shaking” when officers stopped his 2012 Honda Accord on Goffle Road near Warburton Avenue, Detective Sgt. Matthew Hoogmoed said. Asked where he was coming from, Valentine said he was “looking at trucks for his boss” at an excavating company, Hoogmoed said. No Injuries In Hawthorne School Bus Fire No injuries were reported when a fire broke out on a school bus in Hawthorne Wednesday afternoon. Seven children and the driver were removed from the bus on Rea Avenue between 1st Avenue and Goffle Road around 5:20 p.m., as firefighters put out the blaze under the rear wheels, witnesses said. Hawthorne police and fire officials were not immediately available for comment.
