A Middlesex County family is desperate to keep their father in the U.S. after he was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in a traffic stop.
Melvin Herrera of North Brunswick, who is an undocumented immigrant, was arrested last November for an expired registration of a vehicle that wasn't even his, ABC7 reports.
Herrera was driving a van in Plainfield for his job as a construction worker, and instead of being ticketed, he was arrested and handed over to ICE.

Authorities: Plainfield Mom Left Teen Alone With Drugs; $20K, Cocaine Seized
A Plainfield mom left her daughter home alone with drugs, said authorities who arrested her along with another man and seized $20,000 in cash and cocaine.
Jerry Ross, 42, of Dunellen, and Nicole Moody, 35, of Plainfield, were both charged with possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute and two other drug-related offenses, the Union County Prosecutor's Office said.
Moody is also charged with endangering the welfare of a child for leaving her teenage daughter alone in a home with the drugs, authorities said.

Cocaine, Gun, $15K Seized In Plainfield Bust, Prosecutor Says
A new task force created by the Union County Prosecutor's Office assisted Plainfield police in an investigation that authorities said turned up a large amount of cocaine and led to one arrest.
Detective Michael Metz of the Plainfield Police Division last week led a team that executed a search warrant last week at an apartment in the 800 block of East Front Street. Authorities found 780 grams of cocaine in plastic bags, a loaded .357-caliber revolver, $15,000 in cash, as well as a scale and other drug paraphernalia, the prosecutor's office said .
